FAQ

How old does my child need to be to start Kindergarten?

They need to be 5 years old by the 30th of April of the year that they will be starting. For example, if you would like your child to start in 2019, then they will need to be 5 before 30th April 2019.

How far in advance should I book my child into Northcross?

We suggest that you apply as soon as you are interested in sending your child to Northcross. We do consider the date of application but this is not the only selection criteria.

What happens after I have submitted my Enrolment Application for Kindergarten and paid the Application Fee?

We will contact you the year before your child is due to commence to confirm that you are still keen to progress with the application – usually in April. We also will advise you of the process for interviews and selection. The interviews usually occur during June in the year before the child is due to commence. Note: Due to the high volume of applications for kindergarten, not everyone will get an interview and may be placed on a waiting list. We will advise either way.

When will I learn if my child has been offered a place if they are on the waiting list?

We will contact you the year before your child is due to start (see previous question). If you have missed out on a place for Kindergarten in the first round, we will contact you as soon as a place becomes available and confirm your interest in taking up a place at Northcross. If you wish to proceed, then an interview will be organised.

Can I apply for other years apart from Kindergarten?

Yes you can. Please contact the Registrar to discuss your Application. There may not be places available for the year that you are applying for but this can be confirmed with you at the time of applying.

Is there an entrance exam for students?

No. We are a non-selective school and therefore do not have an entrance exam. There is an interview with the Principal and a screening session for your child to check their readiness for school and if there are any specific needs for your child.

Can my child attend Northcross if they are an overseas student?

No, we do not accept overseas students. They need to be an Australian Citizen or have an approved Australian visa. Please click here for more information on the Documents required.

Can we apply at Northcross if we don’t attend a church or are not Christians?

As we are a Christian School, it is important to us to uphold our Christian values. All our staff are Christians and have an active and real faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. You are welcome to apply, but you must fully support our Christian teachings, values and ethos.

Do current and past siblings get priority for placements?

Yes they do. However, you will still need to apply for each child to be enrolled and an Application Fee needs to be paid.

What format and information do you need for our Pastor’s Reference?

If you currently attend a church, you will need to include a Letter from your Pastor/Minister. There is no specific format for this letter, but it would be helpful to have the letter on the church’s letterhead. In the letter your pastor should confirm your current attendance at church and how long you have been attending. Whilst it’s not necessary, your pastor can also include any other information regarding your family eg. Your involvement at church and a character reference.
